What is an Associate Degree?
An associate degree is an academic qualification that is attained before moving on to a bachelor's degree program. Associate degrees are used as stepping-stones to full four-year bachelor’s programs and contain both general degree requirements as well as electives that can be chosen by the student in preparation for their eventual major field of study.
Who goes for an Associate Degree?
Associate degrees are generally awarded by Public Universities in the United States. After completion of an Associate degree, the student would either enter the workforce directly or transfer into a bachelor's degree program.
If the student attends a four-year college and first earns an Associate degree, then that degree may be used to apply as a transfer student to other Universities for a bachelor's degree program.
